Full-Time Staff

LIZ PATRICK has been competing in 3-Day Eventing since 1987 and has trained and competed numerous horses since then. She currently competes her gelding, Toast of Manhattan at the Intermediate level, in addition to her young horses she is bringing along - After Eight (7 y.o. TB/Dutch), Forrest (8 y.o. CB/TB), and her homebred True Blue (by Salute the Truth) will be making his debut in the Eventing world this fall.

Lizís instructional approach focuses on teaching effective riding through correct use of aids while instilling in the student a strong awareness of how the horse is going.

Liz has two sons, Tyler (17) who is a junior at The McDonogh School and Scott (20) who is a sophomore at Davidson University in North Carolina. She enjoys summer breaks with Scott and Tyler on Long Beach Island, NJ. She also enjoys winter vacations skiing with her friends in Park City, UT.

We have a new addition to Waters Edge staff! We're happy to welcome Sarah Lutz (of Aiken, SC) as a full-time rider.  Sarah is 28 yrs old and has been riding since age five.  She is an eventer, polo player, and occasional foxhunter. She has been helping Liz in Aiken with riding some of the horses and (lucky for us) has agreed to come to Maryland for the spring/summer/fall seasons and will return to Aiken with Liz for the winter season next year!  We're looking forward to putting her experience to good use!

Riding and competing a number of Liz's horses.

Mikahla Insalaco Jestes, M.Ac., Licensed Acupuncturist

Mikahla is a licensed acupuncturist certified by the Maryland State Board of Acupuncture with a veterinary-approved specialty certification in animal acupuncture.

In addition to her animal and human acupuncture practice, Mikahla is currently involved in the training and care of some of the horses at Waterís Edge Farm. Growing up she was involved in showing hunter/jumpers, enjoyed fox hunting, and helped train and exercise young horses.  Mikahla's knowledge of the biomechanics of the horse, and their subtle way of communication allows for a deeper connection and understanding of the horse when both riding and giving acupuncture.
