November 2013:

Liz's New Colt (2013, Casall/Quinar/Cassini I) in Holstein! Spectacular!

The 2nd part of this video is Liz's 2-year old, Canturo/Acorado/Landgraf mare who will be prepped to go to her mare performance test this coming summer, and will also be bred this spring. She is a premium filly out of Traviata, a 52 Bonit mare. She is from stamm 776 - one of the most successful mare lines in the world, and was bred by the breeders of the renowned stallion Ramiro.  Also of note:  her 3/4 brother was champion foal in Holstein for 2011(the same year she was born). We look forward to her progress, and to her progeny being every bit as spectacular as she is!

This year’s Siegerhengst (champion stallion) in Holstein by Casall.  A half-brother to my colt in Holstein (Casall/Quinar/Cassini I).  Casall sons have been Siegerhengst or reserve Siegerhengst for the last three years, commanding between 400,000 to 600,000 euro at the auction held immediately following the Keuring.  They now limit Casall's breeding to only approved Holsteiner mares breeding in Holstein, and only 300 mares.

May 2013:

It's been a very successful breeding season with three lovely, healthy foals on the ground - two here at Waters Edge and one in Germany!

Bristol delivered a healthy colt! Bristol was a maiden, and everything progressed smoothly, with me and my staff doing the delivery ourselves! Kudos to everyone who helped out! He is a very leggy dark brown foal with a black dorsal stripe - may end up being a grey. He is already showing a fabulous effortless canter around his stall - flying changes and all!  He should mature to at least 16.3h. Stay tuned for pictures and video!

April 2013:

Rania had her foal on 4/14.  She's a beautiful black filly (will be grey) named Fallon (Dakota VDL-Saluut II-Merano E).  She is by Dakota VDL (Hyperion Stud) and is a member of his first foal crop here!  Both mom and baby are doing great.  She is athletic and quick...zooming around in true Holsteiner fashion - leaping and bucking!

Liz's 8 yo mare in Holstein, Germany, Vinara (Quinar-Cassini I-Latino) just gave birth to a beautiful colt (Casall-Quinar-Cassini I) on 4/19.  He is a leggy bay with three socks and a narrow blaze like his phenom jumper sire, Casall la Silla (2nd worldwide in jumpers).  It's very exciting because no one has this combination and, given Quinar's passing last year, he is of particular significance.

Also in Holstein, Germany: Liz's 2 yo mare (Canturo-Acorado-Landgraf) will be prepared for her mare performance test (MPT) next spring.  This filly is from a very successful mare line, Stamm 776 (Ramiro). She is the first foal out of a 52 bonit mare.  Liz has high hopes for her and believes she will achieve states premium status.  She is an incredible mover, very elastic and suspended in her trot, and super balanced in canter ... she will have a HUGE jump in her! (Watch for her video!)

We eagerly await Bristol's foal who is due on May 23rd.  Bristol (Campesino-Caracas-Merano E) is a maiden. She is turning 4 this spring and Liz will be breaking her in the fall once the foal is weaned, and she will be out competing in 2014!

Toast of Manhattan is SOLD!!  Congratulations to Hilary Maddaus on the purchase of Liz's Intermediate horse, Toast of Manhattan. He will be the ultimate schoolmaster for Hilary, who is a full-time working student of upper level eventer Rebekah Calder. Wishing you much happiness with my boy Hilary ... it is VERY bittersweet for me as I love that horse TO DEATH!!

Springtime at the farm ...

March 2013We will be returning to Maryland (in 2 trips) in early April. We’re looking forward to having the whole Water's Edge family back together!

February 2013:  A wintery view of the main barn ... looking like a ski lodge ...

Waters Edge Farm, LLC has recently added Waters Edge South, an 11.5-acre farm in Aiken, South Carolina. The farm is located in the New Bridge Polo community on New Bridge Road, minutes from the 302 corridor of farms and events like Full Gallop and Paradise Farm. Very exciting!

We will be offering full board at $750/month for those wanting to get out of the cold and come south to train and compete (full month increments only).

September 2012

* The Maryland Horse Trials (Adamstown, MD) on October 13th-14th

On September 25, Waters Edge's own Epona travelled to Hyperion Stud in VA for the AHHA Inspections, and we are proud to say she had fantastic results! With a 9 on Conformation and a 7 on Movement, she is tied for 3rd in the country!

August 2012

Stay tuned for results from the AHHA approvals at Hyperion Stud in Virginia this September. Both Epona and Bristol will be going for their AHHA approvals.

All of us here at WEF are very sorry to hear about the passing of Quinar. He is the sire of our 2012 filly Epona, and our 7-year-old broodmare still residing in Holstein. Our thoughts and prayers are with the folks at Fox Fire Farms. We are very lucky to have two of his fabulous offspring to carry on his legacy.

July 2012

From Tim Kammerer of Sparling Rock Holsteiners … The Event at Rebecca Farms was held this past weekend, drawing 500 horses to compete in FEI as well as USEF-recognized divisions. Two Holsteiners led their divisions from start to finish. In the CCI3* it was the mare R-Star by Riverman/Corofino who captured the top placing. And in the CCI1* it was High Times by Hunter/Tin Rocco who finished in first.

The 4- and 5-year-old Young Event Horse classes were both won by horses from Holsteiner bloodlines. Fleeceworks Cinco captured the 5-year-old class and Cadillack (sired by Contefino) won the 4-year-old division.

June 2012

Congratulations to Tom Loch (Newtown, PA) on the purchase of Forest! They look forward to a beautiful partnership filled with foxhunting and eventing.

Also, keep an eye out for Shakedown Street, Samurai Secret and Dora the Explorer at the MCTA Starter Horse Trials on June 24th

May 2012

Waters Edge Holsteiners, together with Sparling Rock Holsteiners, welcomes the filly Epona, born May 10th here on our farm. She is by the Hosteiner stallion Quinar (Quidam de Revel) out of Liz’s mare Rania (Saluut II).  She is a gorgeous filly—bay with a big white blaze and 4 socks—that is beautifully put together. Pictures to come soon!

We are also excited to announce the purchase of a lovely 3-year-old Holsteiner filly names Bristol (Campesino/Caracas/Merano-stamm 730b). The plan is to breed Bristol to the renowned Holsteiner stallion Contefino (standing at Royal Oaks Farm in California) for a 2013 foal. This combination should produce an incredible baby—very modern and extremely athletic. Fingers crossed! Check out the WEF Breeding page for more photos and video.
